This slide aims to show a comparison between the double page spread of my media product and that of an existing real media product. As you can see in the slide i have analysed aspects of my product which showed clear similarities and took note mentally of those which represented differences.Similarities:
Both media products contained an introduction before the main articles which gave the audience a clear view of who the article was about and an idea of the contents of the article my media product clearly inform the reader that the article is about vamp and informs them of an informal chatty fact which is simply inputted to lighten the mood. Which is similar to that which the comparative media product chose to use before entering into the main article.
Another similarity between the two is that both contain a main image which takes up a top to bottom chunk of the page. My magazine chooses to place this image clearly to the right of the page where as the other is clearly to the left and takes up a lot more of the page than my own.
Both use a main quote which is extracted from the overall interview and printed in a larger font, this again lightens the mood and is usually intended as a form of entertainment to attract the audience to the article.
The last simularity is that the main text of the article is biased to the opposing side of the page to that of the image with my magazine focusing its text towards the left and the opposing real product choosing the right.
Differences/Lacking:
The real media product does not show evdience of a clear title which infoms the reader of what the article is about the only idea can be gathered from the image and the fact that the article includes a quote made in the interview which states "i dont see there ever being another oasis to be honest"
Another diffeence is that the real media product has a more simplistic approach with lack of a background behind the text but instead using coloured stips to highlight small aspects of the text. Whereas my product has the continued housestyle of the brickwall background with the black splats as text boxes.
Most of the differences are small aspects such as different placements rather than huge differences but their still aspects which make each magazine its own.
Again you can clearly see that the real magazine chooses to take their images in a photostudio whereas with my media product i origionally decided i wanted to make my image as raw and rough as possible by keeping the photoshoots to outside settings minus that of the one image contained at the bottom right of my contents page.
